Function of Steam Header:

The steam header's function is to receive steam from one or more, up to a maximum of 8, lines and hold it under pressure. The line equipment receives steam stored on demand. The header's capacity is determined by user-configurable dimensions. Pressure differentials are used as the driving force to transfer steam from the boiler to the header, from one header to another, and from the header to the line equipment. Flow calculations between the boiler and the header ensure balanced transfer, preventing the header pressure from exceeding the boiler pressure.

The pressure in the header is based on the amount of contained steam and its temperature. The weighted average of all steam inlet temperatures is used to determine the final header temperature. Both pressure and temperature change dynamically in the online system.

A user-configurable Safety Vent Process is defined, consisting of a high-pressure trigger point, which, when crossed, initiates the vent opening. Extra steam is vented to bring the pressure below the trigger point.
